    Description

Original United States Officers Militia plate tongue recovered on the Gettysburg Battlefield before the turn of the century. This plate was an early recovery as it is in very good condition. It has the initials MMH scratched into the back. This plate was part of an 1890’s Shadowbox from Gettysburg that we recently acquired while in Gettysburg. It will come in a lockable wood and glass case. Fully guaranteed to be original as stated. A very nice specimen. Most likely from the 1850’s as it has 31 stars after California was admitted to the Union. These plates were worn by both Union and Confederate soldiers.
Note: The last photo is of all the shadow box relics after they were removed from the box which was beyond repair. They have all been sold except for the belt plate offered here.
