    Description

Offered here is  this scarce original model 1839 US Army EM small oval belt plate/ buckle produced before and during the Mexican War, and surplus stocks were used through the Civil War.  The face is stamped brass with lead fill. There are only two hooks on this small buckle instead of three. both the spade hook and prong show attractive beveling and attractive wear.  The lead back is darkened by age and not chemical. The buckle shows some nicks and light corrosion to the face, and the edge has two minor flat spots where the buckle was likely dropped, which has forced the lead up over the edge of the brass. These small plates are much scarcer than the larger ones, and this is I think, a particularly nice example. Guaranteed to be original and as described.
Offered with no hidden reserve and a low starting bid. Buyer to pay Priority post and insurance. (7.50) Combined post on multiple purchases.  Three-day inspection/ return on all items I offer if not as described.  US shipping only.   Thanks.
