Mexico 1902 Mo AM Porfirian Peso Fuerte silver crown-size coin from the Mexico City Mint.
Lightly circulated condition with excellent details. Very strong strike with fully visible snake.
Mexico's counterpart to the Morgan Dollar, the Porfirian Peso Fuerte replaced the 8 Reales in 1898.
A staple of international trade, these coins circulated all over the world and became a global standard.
The nickname Peso Fuerte literally translates to "Strong Peso" and was rightfully earned due to its' 0.9027 silver purity and 27.073gr weight.
This gave foreign merchants a little more "bang for their buck" and quickly became their preferred form of payment instead of Mexico's rival's weaker trade dollars.
