    This is a handsome certificate in the classical Greek style.
    The company specialized in lending money to farmers in western and southern states. According to the New York Times in October 1898 the company was in trouble and a receiver had been appointed for it. It is believed that the company's troubles prompted its 55 year old President Daniel O Eshbaugh to drown himself in the North River near Hoboken NJ.
